The HUNTER or the HUNTED. For $60 US I can buy the following blu-ray titles [in pristine remasterings]: The third Man ($15.99), Repulsion ($19.99) The Director's cut of Amadeus ($14.99) and THE SEARCHERS ($9.99) all concurrently on sale at Amazon.com w/free shipping. The album that should've been released on SACD was Famous Blue Raincoat or better yet All of Laura Nyro's early Columbia output which NEVER saw the light of SACD and continue to be represented on tinny-sounding rbcds. Now that woman really knew how to write and sing!

Some of her later Columbia albums have been re-issued recently on the Iconoclassic label. They are apparently quite good from a sound quality standpoint.
Nested, Seasons of Light and Mother's Spiritual so far. I don't know Laura Nyro but am curious. Would you recommend any of these three ?

In an attempt to get back on topic: was there not a Laura Nyro SACD issued by Rounder? Is it worth seeking out?

fbr in sacd will be nice. i have the 20th anniversary of fbr. however, imho i prefer The Well over fbr, 20th or not. btw, the rang listed the item as 60 canadian dollars, not usd.

if u think 60 usd/cnd for a sacd is expensive, try to locate a rbcd soundtrack of Conan The Barbarian, the 16-track version. usually trade in 60 to 80 usd.

cheers,
wps

The rounder album by Laura Nyro on SACD "Angel In the Dark" was one of her later albums. It is a hybrid stereo sacd and is NOW fetching $110.00 at Amazon.com. The album is quite beautiful but her earliest efforts: New York Tendaberry, Christmas and the Beads of Sweat, her debut album and her duet album with Patti LaBelle "Gonna Take a Miracle," remain her outstanding achievements. She was a truly distinctive voice and unfortunately cancer took this amazing artist at a relatively early age. I am unfamiliar with the three albums you mentioned but once you hear her, you will become a fan.

Dear HV:
I hope you are happy with your HD file music computer. I have shivers of fear for a HD lost, when I see someone with a hardisk music system.
I see this happen many times between 1977 and 1998 when I work on mainframe.
Cheers and always have a backup!!.

HV, I'd actually be interested (again!) in one of your Zucchero titles, at least? (Shake)...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The Gardiner version of The Planets for over $100? Will someone pay these prices?

Perphaps DVD4MUSIC is not the only unreliable shop......Iam Afraid Amazon-France is fool me.
I order this Gardiner/Planets in 10Aug2009 at 25,90euros + 14euros ship to Brazil, and in the meantime the Amazon-France price increase to 30,98euros, then they do not ship me and give me a second period shall send to 12/14Sep2009. And Iam waiting biting nails, I hope Amazon-France honor the price of my 10Aug order (25,90euros).

Unless one is independently wealthy and/or a rabid collector, rather than spending a small fortune on OOP sacds, one should consider upgrading their existing system and enjoying the music they currently have. Better interconnects, power cables, brass feet beneath one's components and room tuning devices would be a better investment.....Spending hundreds of dollars for a single 45-80 minutes of music could yield upgrades that will reward the listener with hundreds of hours of pleasure.
