I'm happy to join the SA-CD forum !
For about 20 years now, I am busy with Audiophile equipment and music. I live in Belgium.
Last week I bought a Philips DVD-player, that had also SACD on it. Having this ability, I bought a few SACD's and I must admit it is an incredible good medium. Far better that I expected. I don't love surround-stuff so everything I play is through basic Stereo-only. I thought SACD was just another industry-evolution... NOT ! The medium is quite impressive !!! 1) Very Detailed 2) high definition across the whole frequency-range 3) Very dynamic 4) incredible good Rhytm and Timing.
I am very happy that there are few cd-stores that have SACD's for sale, and I hope there will be MUCH , MUCH more titles available in the future. Since they make Hybrid (cd and sacd) now, they should make every new title like this.
Certainly there ARE very bad SACD recordings out there. It is the original tape and the mastering that must be good. I bought "Abraxas" from Santana, a 1970 recording. This record never sounded so good. This is a perfect example from good remastering of an old masterpiece. A second SA-CD is Requiem from Mozart (Harnoncourt). Voices sound so realistic it is quite spooky !!!
Good listening !
