Does an SACD version of this album exist? I can't seem to find it anywhere, but I did notice it listed on this sight, with rather unfavorable reviews...
Return to Forever: Romantic Warrior
So does anyone here actually own it, and if so what do you think of it compared to the regular CD, or even the Blu-Spec CD?

Like many early Sony JSACDs, this one is long OOP and very hard to find.
I only have the regular remastered CD, mastered by Mark Wilder who also did most of the Sony jazz SACDs (I don't know if he did this one).
It's a typical 70's jazz-rock recording, which sounds very studio-processed, like a pop production.
So I would not spend too much on an "audiophile" version of this. The Blu-spec CD probably has the same mastering as the regular CD.

A fusion masterpiece, and a title well worth owning in whatever iteration IMO. I never could find the SACD either, but If you happen to own a turntable, I think the LP is the way to go. The sonics of my copy are outstanding. By the way, it sounds like a polarity issue with the SACD version based on the description in one of the reviews (i.e., the instruments sounding "mixed together"). If you do find one, reversing the speaker cables would verify.

Yeah I've heard it before and I like it, I guess I'll jsut settle witht he regular CD since finding the SACD seems to be impossible now, and if by chance it ever does come up on ebay or something I would probably have to pay and arm and a leg for it, I'll keep my eyes open though, hopefully they'll rerelease it correctly some day.
