I have come across this (now discontinued) player at a very good price. Does anyone own it or have some info that might be useful?

All replies gratefully received.

Hello mahlerei
I have a Musical Fidelity kW SACD player. Down sides are the noisy transport, which when paying £4,000 is shocking! It takes ages to load but like a lot of super cars it has its problems. On the upside I've heard 2 players that could be better and the are produced by Krell and McIntosh. To me it sounds better than any of the expensive Naims better than Acoustic Research CD7 which cost double the price if not more. The Bass is so deep, the mid range beautiful and the top end bristling with air. It is the top bench mark. I'm using The Missing Link silver cryo cabling throughout running into a Naim pre/Power combo and Proac D15 speakers that have silver cryo speaker cable. My Funk Firm modded Sondek has a lot of catching up to do and you probably know the price of them.

I've had one too for just over 3 years and, whilst a big fan, would support all these comments. Perhaps worth noting too is the lack of any refinements such as programme, sort, etc., and, occasionally more seriously, no means of choosing the layer you want to play. The only other glitch with mine (which I've learned to live with) is that when just switched on it is reluctant to recognise the SACD layer of hybrid discs. However when fully warmed up (the legs start red, go orange and then turn blue when the valves are appropriately cooking!) this problem diappears. It has two outputs - one is via the valve circuits and is so much superior to the other I don't know why they bothered to duplicate. But that sound ... !!!
