It is hard to stop at 3, there are so many other artists which I think would benefit from multichannel SACD. Jean Michel-Jarre, Loreena McKennitt, Emmylou Harris, The Cars, Tori Amos, Talking Heads, Suzanne Vega, Andreas Vollenweider, More of Mike Oldfield than Tubular Bells, etc...

Wow, another American who has heard of Jean Michel Jarre. His latest Aero DTS album was pretty good, not great, but showed the potential for mch. Imagine Equinoxe in 5.1!

I would also have to say the Beatles later stuff, more Pink Floyd, and maybe some Celibidache Bruckner?

Isn't is a shame there is no Alan Parsons material out? Wouldn't some of his stuff be something to hear in Surround?

Alan Parsons Project "On Air" is available on DTS, but I am not a big fan of DTS, it is OK for surround effects but just does not hold up in quality to SACD or DVD-Audio.

"I Robot" is available on HDAD, an alternative DualDisc like format that has two DVD sides, one side contain 24/96 stereo PCM audio with some video extras and the other side just a 24/192stereo track.

But I would really like to see this in surround mix so I have held off on buying that one. Though I may some day succumb...

Yeah, I am pretty bummed by Aero being released on DTS instead of SACD or DVD-Audio. Originally this album was slated to be released in DVD-Audio but then was released in simple DTS, I guess trying to cut corners.

This seems to be a new trend in the DVD-A world, another album that I bought being marketed as DVD-Audio was Mostly Autumn's Passengers, but when I received it, I found it only contained DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1, I feel kind of ripped off. At least that one is slated to be released on SACD, just I wouldn't have bought the DVD version if I had known it only contained DTS.

I don't mean to nit-pick, but weren't they on Philips, with the Philharmonia Orchestra? (The Mercury team might have been used for the recordings, of course).

They probably were released in Europe on Phillips due to the distribution deal between Phillips and Mercury in the 60's, but Mercury they were:

Pretty nice set of potential recordings here-add ALL of these to my list!

BTW, I didn't have the Beatles on my wish list because I put those in the realm of "not going to happen", at least not soon.

dear Betton, there's a fine complete Brandenburgs set on a single DVD-Audio disc, made at 24/96 from original quad, analogue tapes. Recorded in Sydney opera House and featuring Carl Pini as leader. It really is very good, spacious and clear (musically as well as sonically). It's listed in amazon.c0.uk but I'm sure its available elsewehere too.

Like you, I'd love to see the Klemperer Flute on SACD but it was on EMI and it wasn't quad, so i wouldnt hold out much hope. The non-quad limitation also applies to my fav. Grieg/Schumann coupling, with Kovacevich (or Bishop as he was then) on Philips, so Pentatone isn't a rescuer there. Was the Lupu recorded in quad or just stereo ? - it was certainly a lovely performance from an under-rated pianist.

I guess the Stevens albums will be released eventually, but in the meantime, there's a DVD with DTS surround music track of the live concerts from his Majikat 1976 tour, made from the original analogue multi-track tapes. A friend of mine (who seems to have just about everything) has it and although I've only heard it once at his place, it sounded good, with a very realistic crowd-and reverberation effect from the rears.

Hi Brenda, thank you but no DVD-Audio facility here, nor multichannel.
As for Brandenburgische konzerte, I would be delighted to see one by Goebel in pure DSD! Best regards, Betton

Yeah, I forgot to mention Cat Stevens. I am still looking for the best Brandenburg Concertos to acquire. I might look at the DVD-A version that Brenda mentioned.
