Hello

I'm new here. Just bought a Philips SACD player not too long ago and starting to build up a library of SACD disks. Yesterday, there was a local sale where RCA Living Stereo SACD's were going for a song. I picked up quite a few including:

Dvorák's New World Symphony and Other Orchestral Masterworks

My question is, after track 7, which is listed officially on the sleeve, there was an additional track, 8, which contained something I am familiar with but I can't for the life of me recall what it is. Worst of all, it is not credited.

Is this an SACD nugget, and is this common?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Mercury Living Presence

Rather, RCA Living Stereo.

I stand corrected. Thank you!

It is RCA Living Stereo indeed.

This is very odd. My copy has only seven tracks when played on my mch setup and when played and viewed on Windows Media Player as well as being examined on Windows Explorer. The previous incarnation of this disc, on RBCD, also had seven tracks. How were you able to access an eighth track?

My copy also has only 7 tracks. Is it possible you have a pirated disc, which the Recording Industry 2005 Commercial Piracy Report, estimated to be as high as 34% of total cd sales, the largest victim of which is China?

I have one of the original Check-Discs of this sent to me directly from Sony and it has only the 7 tracks.

Some SACDs have a different number of tracks in stereo vs multichannel.

Is it Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 - Reiner we're talking about?

If so, does this track 8 appear in stereo, in multichannel or in both?

What is the total duration of your disc?

My E.U. pressing has 7 tracks.

First of all, thanks for all the inputs and suggestions. I will check through and list each track length, and try and also see if I can identify track 8, which I actually know but can't remember.

I am not in China, but in Singapore. We are a small South East Asian republic about 7 hours south by air from Beijing. It does play as an SACD. I also bought it from an establishment that doesn't do pirated, and it doesn't look pirated. It could still be, and I'll check.

Is there any way I can post images or excerpts on this site?

You can only use the "Image URL (optional)" field on the post/reply screen but for that the image has to be uploaded and hosted elsewhere, such as flickr, photobucket, tinypic, etc.

I have lived in Singapore and can confirm you don't find counterfeit music or movies in the shops or on markets.
