I do love shopping! I was just at TOWER in the Village (NYC), and by total chance, I spotted this:

http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000YWGA8/qid=1098820941/sr=1-9/ref=sr_1_10_9/302-1943999-0765608

If we could get an entry for this on SA-CD.net, I'd write a review. I'm enjoying it immensely, as it features two of my favorite pieces. It was a very happy surprise, because I had no idea this recording existed, let alone on SACD!

It's there already.

Yes, I spotted this at Tower at Lincoln Center a few weeks ago and bought it. Magnificent recording. It is now on sale at Acoustic Sounds online.

Zubin Mehta recorded both works in the 1960s for Decca with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which I have on CD. Do any of you know these earlier excellent performances? If so, how do you think they compare with those on this SACD?

Incidentally, for what it's worth, the earlier performances clock in at a total time 52:24 and the CD has the Variations for Orchestra. opus 31 on it as well (part of a Double Decca with more excellent Schoenberg conducted by Christoph von Dohnányi).
