Does anyone know what’s going on with the Universal “Classical 50” titles? Some of these seem to have made a reappearance at HMV Japan, but not all. Some of my favorite titles (Mravinsky Tchaik, the Bohm Mozart, Pollini and Kempff Beethoven, the Solti and Kna Wagner) unfortunately are still missing in action. But there are several new titles also added: deLarrocha, Arrau Liszt sonata, Jochum Bruckner, etc. I’m hoping that all the originally listed titles and these new ones actually see the light of day as SACDs. If so, it would be great news.

Yes, I noticed this. As soon as Universal Japan make an official announcement of the titles, I'll post an update here. The date for these is now December 22 ... so none from Santa (unless you're in Japan) :-).

But with different catalogue numbers than the previous ones!
Confusing, isn't it?

From skimming the "out soon" classical SACD section, it looks like it's an almost completely new list. Many of the same artists, but different recordings.
