I think I might have been one the first purchasers of this disc, years ago, when first released.

I love huge spectacular music. I have long been a fan of Widor and am an admirer of the organ builder. So when I got the email I bought the disc on impulse.

Let me sum it up this way..., over the last few years I have bought dozens of this disc for gifts - to the univeral delight the recipients.

Now as I sit, on a fine Sunday Morning, working on a huge back-log of emails; I am listening again to this magnificent disc.

Ray

P.S. Don't be impeded by the price it is worth it!

I just received an email from pipeorgancds. My understanding is that the first run of this remarkable disc sold out quite some time ago, it was re-printed a few months ago.

There was no information in the email from Joe Vitacco about how copies remain in inventory, but I consider this disc an essential part of my collection!

It seems that whenever I play this for demo at a show or here at KK that listeners want conplete ordering infomation. This has resulted in my presenting the disc as a gift and then placing a re-order with Joe.

The music, the performance and the recording is spectacular. The booklet is of equal value.

Even if your taste does not lend itself to choir and or organ, I can still encourage you to obtain a copy before it goes out of print.

Forty dollars for a single disc? More like forty dollars for a singular disc!

I, for one, am eternally grateful that you alerted me (us at AA hirez in December 05) to this disc. I ordered immediately based on your recommendation and subsequently wrote the review here at SA-CD.net in 2/06. *No* audiophile or music lover, regardless of genre disposition, leaves my home without hearing a portion of this disc. The Widor Mass is my ace-in-the hole demonstration disc.

Last year I took the disc over to Seifried Linkwitz' home here in Northern California to listen to his Orion Speakers. Mr. Linkwitz, being a having "heard it all" type of guy (my impression) is a pretty stoic listener (on the outside). BUT he was immediately and visibly moved by the JAV Widor Mass, so much so that he read the liner notes and took written notes about the recording.

We have a new Cathedral in Oakland, California, Christ the Light. About a month ago I assisted in unloading the pipes for the new organ. I spoke to the organist about performing the Widor Mass and he was most excited about the prospect. I don't believe he was familiar with the JAV recording, but he is most familiar with the organ at St. Sulpice and said flat out that it was the best organ is Paris.

By the way, last week I had an email exchange with Joe Vitacco at JAV expression my deep disappointment that their new Easter Mass CD also recorded at Saint Sulpice with choruses is only available as a CD. Mr. Vitacco stated that SACDs are too expensive to make and that there are not enough players out there to make it worth while.

Here is chance for free worldwide shipping from JAV Recordings. I am pasting the email I just got below. Put SACD in the search box and it brings up at least 10 titles on SACD. While I have not listened to all of them JAV has a very good reputation for artistic and sonic quality!

An announcement today that this SA-CD will soon be out of stock.

In my opinion this is an essential disc, even if this type of music is not a favorite - and even if it is pricey for a single disc.

All the best
