Sony BMG have been putting out some excellent SA-CD releases (under the Sony Classical, RCA and DHM labels). Maybe if people woke up to this fact instead of continually bemoaning their supposed lack of support there would be even more.

Perhaps this is a matter of perspective. These releases are not ones that I am interested in, hence the supposed bemoaning and the lack of support, I am not going to buy an SACD that I am not interested in just to show support for the format. Almost Ten years on from the launch of SACD it would be nice to see a broader range of releases from Sony that I will gladly support.

Dear supporters of SACD
I would like to announce that in the November issue of Gramophone, 12 SACD labels have gotten together to produce a SACD hybrid sampler on to the cover mount. 52000 cd's are being pressed at this moment. Gramophone has reserved two pages to further promote the format and there is a simple contest to win a SACD player from Holfi Audio which had a great review last month on their Xandra MP universal player. furthermore Gramophone will be dedicating space to review SACD's in future issues. We don't need to convert this forum to SACD, but we are hoping that the sampler and simple to understand 'advertorial' by Gramophone will boost a much needed image to the format and those labels that are dedicated to its survival.
It is important that at least you know about this upcoming issue.

Wow! I think I´ll send some *positive* feedback to Gramophone for this. If they really change their politics about SACD, I might even subscribe it. This is great and important news for all of us.

Since in the past there has been much discussion about the lack of quality SACD players, the quiz prize for the Gramophone November edition is the Holfi Xandra universal player. I have had the opportunity to listen to this player and have been pleasantly surprised of how 'musical' it sounds. I hope the followers of this forum will take the time to visit their web site. These small dedicated companies also need our support.

I registered to this forum because I just want to say thank you.

This is a great news to SACD.

I am also a fan of Channel Classics' China recordings in SACD format.

They sound great !

Thanks Kenny,
It has also been a discovery for me to work with these fine musicians, hear and learn about these traditional instruments.
We are all hoping that this sampler will give people at least the animo to re-discover what quality is all about. We are looking into different ways to continue this kind of promotion and maybe in other countries and magazines as well. Working together, we are of course a good deal stronger to target new supporters of this medium.
greetings

Do they distribute in the UK?

They are a UK magazine; try WHSmith.

Is there a tracklist for this sampler yet?

What should we be looking out for? Above cover, or is that last month's issue?

This is the Awards issue, in addition to the regular monthly ones. From what Jared said, you'll want the next one.
