Great! Now let's hope Phil discovers this format for his backcatalogue. Oh I would buy Dance Into the Light und Face Value, But Seriously, and the Tarzan Sountrack and Brother Bear in a second! Heck, and his other stuff as well.

Phil, like Genesis, is on Atlantic Records in the US and other labels elsewhere. Phil's catalog will be like Genesis' if it ever gets released on hi-rez.

AT least that would be multichannel, then. What about Banks' album?

Oh, if only Peter Gabriel would have given all his album remasters the multichannel treatment.

Before its demise several years back, Europe Sony's SACD website had an article on Peter Gabriel equipping his studio for multi-channel recording and mixing. He can certainly do it if he wants to.

He can and he did, as Play and especially UP proved. I asked Realworld about new 5.1 mixes of the old albums a couple of years ago when play arrived and they said, that it is very expensive to do them and that Play would be the last 5.1 release for a long time.

What I don't understand is why they didn't at least release a 5.1 Shaking The Tree: Best Of? After all, most of the surround mixes were done for the Play DVD.

From an October 12, 2008 news item at the World of Genesis website, looks like Nick Davis has completed nine of eleven tracks on the hybrid multi-channel surround (remixed) SACD of "A Curious Feeling". The production on this SACD is nearing completion.
