Since I am in the market for a new STEREO CD/SACD player, do any of the many SA-CD Net readers have any experience with this upgraded unit and how it compares to the EMM Labs CDSA-SE (Special Edition) player? Your input would be invaluable.

I strongly suggest that you go to Positive Feedback Online and contact PFO's Associate Editor, Dave Clark as he is a HUGE fan of the Cary SACD player and has experience with the EMM Labs unit...if fact, he still shows the EMM Labs in his system....

Good luck and it is cool to see folks here considering such great gear!!!

Cheers,

A few weeks ago I bought a Cary 306 SACD, NOT the Pro version. I believe my machine was one of the last ones made before the Pro came out. The Cary is startling on SACD: gobs of air around instruments/sections, natural timbre (well-recorded violins, cellos, etc. sound like they are made of wood), midrange is glorious, bass deep and tight, highs are there but not in your face. My only complaint is that there are drop-outs on some of my SACD's. No reason to believe this is typical.

The PRO should be even better.
