A few weeks ago I bought a Cary 306 SACD, NOT the Pro version. I believe my machine was one of the last ones made before the Pro came out. The Cary is startling on SACD: gobs of air around instruments/sections, natural timbre (well-recorded violins, cellos, etc. sound like they are made of wood), midrange is glorious, bass deep and tight, highs are there but not in your face. My only complaint is that there are drop-outs on some of my SACD's. No reason to believe this is typical.
The PRO should be even better.
