Hi danadan Sorry Im not coming out to play on this one as I also think this disc is about the poorest of his reissues.
I do take my modding serious though and its an ongoing obsession.
Cannot understand why people think that better playback equipment is going to correct the poor quality of the original whether its miking,methodology or pressing.I know you know that but you only have to look at some of the postings?.
Only my head is semi gloss.It absorbs the plus 50k frequency bands much easier.
Afraid I cannot drink scotch or owt similair due to medical reasons.Dont like froggy or Italian wines either.Prefer Califonian and Ozz.
Sonically Its more important to make sure that the carpet is cleaned by the wife.Just as important as the colour.(COLOR) Cant have the girlfiend getting her hands dirty.

I think people believe what they see in the movies (probably made in America). The helicopter is crashing into the stadium full of screaming people, sirens are blaring, bombs are going off, and off in the corner, two gnats are uniting in marital gnat bliss. The sound dweeb playing back the cell-phone recording of all this (in the American! movie) turns a knob, squints at his computer screen, hits "Alt+[random key]", and it all goes away except a dull boom and, of course, the gnats. And speaking of poor-quality originals, many people don't seem to consider that art of any kind is usually created specifically for a particular medium. An artist who paints in watercolors will paint differently than he would when painting in oils. Recording artists making music that was supposed to jump out of mono car speakers on AM radio, or intended to sound groovy on a 45 rpm single made of recycled toothbrush handles, never expected that recording to sound good on a yet-unimagined medium.
Or, to finally put it more succinctly, "It is what it is." The magic is that despite all that, plus deteriorating materials, a surprising number of those old recordings sound pretty good. Some better than pretty good.

The problem with some of the comments on this site idicates the listeners want their own preferred "sound "and the music seems secondary.

Hi, while all the differences in temp, humidity, scotch (single or blend), wall paint, carpet thickness and oven temp (if on), sea level, if you were in a war (which one), would make a difference... My point was that if you are grading the sonic qualities of an SACD on the bonus 5.1 surround system that came with your 40" LCD TV, that possibly you should state that.
I have chatted with reviewers that have reviewed SACDs, after ripping them to their iPod from their computer, not even knowing a computer can't play an SACD layer, or knowing anything happens to the sound after that!
So maybe my request should be put in a less specific terms? Can you play an SACD layer? If so, are your speakers placed where your wife wanted them? Is your TV right in between the front speakers (maybe a custom wall shelf or entertainment center situation?). This would be equally as helpful in evaluating the SACD review you provide. Thanks
