I'm not liking this news. If they axe the SACD version for a DVD-A release, I am going to puke. I wonder if the SACD will be made for Europe first...

If "The Lamb" indeed gets released on hi-rez, it will be DVD-A (or DualDisc) for the US and SACD for the rest of the world. Genesis is signed to Atlantic Records in the US, which is part of the Warner Music Group, and therefore, will release "The Lamb" on either DVD-A or DualDisc, if at all. Outside of the US, Genesis is signed to Virgin, which is a SACD supporter. Besides, DualDisc is not sold in Europe due to legal issues and there is not much support for DVD-A outside of the US.

Has anyone heard anything about the Genesis SACD's lately? Also, does anyone know whether the Steely Dan SACD mixes were actually finished but just not released?

Hi!

No release date yet for Genesis SACDs. Here is the last entry on their official site. It is dated June 2nd:

"Release dates for the SACD versions of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot have not yet been sent. The re-mixes await the final approval of all concerned in their original recording and, when received, dates for their release will be set."

The following link had been showing 'winter' for the release dates but it looks like the release dates have been brought forward:

'Fall' is not far away now. Fingers crossed.

Well, I would not my breath if I were you: Here is what you can read on Genesis's official website:

"After the delayed release of the 'Lamb' SACD / DVD-A remaster originally due in April 2004, Nick Davis has since completed remixes of 'Trick of the Tail', 'Nursery Cryme', 'Selling England' and 'Foxtrot', however at present it is not clear when, if ever, these will see the light of day."

"when, if ever..." Hard to belive isn't it?

The latest from Nick Davis is that almost all Genesis studio albums, with the except of their debut, are remixed and remastered for multi-channel surround sound. In October, the band is suppose to get together and listen to the results. Rumor has it that all of these remastered albums will be released as a boxset as a 40th anniversary boxset. No word on the format though. Given the limited appeal of DVD-A and DualDisc around the world, I think a release on SACD will be likely.

Don't give up yet....the Moody Blues SACDs were 3 years in the making.
