Apologies if this isn't really discussion material. Just got this delivered today and I think it is utterly wonderful. The best pop/rock surround material I've heard, and also fantastic in stereo.
I just wanted to bring this disc to everybody's attention! I'm just going to order some more Elton John now....!

You are indeed correct. The Elton John SACDs are always highly rated and some of the best in my collection. It's always kind of saddens me though, when I listen to these and wonder how much other good pop/rock stuff could be released but will not. I'm enjoying the 2nd Genesis box now and really enjoying it. I'm not sure what happened but in my opinion this box is much better than the first box which covered the years 1976-1982. I just hope the Gabriel era box is the best yet.

yes i have all the EJ SACDs and love them.
the only sadness is the albums they haven't put on SACD, "don't shoot me" and "caribou" in particular.
i wonder why those ones weren't put into multichannel?!

Rumour has it both of those albums, and more, were mastered in MC for SACD release.
But Universal in their infinite wisdom opted not to release them.

Same goes for "The Captain and the Kid", doesn't it? I don't get it. The most expensive thing about a SACD is the multichannel mix. Once you have done that, why not release it as a hybrid? Maybe they want to save it for another "Special Edition" thing. Universal has stopped releasing SACD'S for good I guess. That includes A&M and Polydor, which is very sad in deed.
