My copy of this SACD came with a bonus DVD. However, the DVD will not play on my DVD player - I get some cryptic error message saying the disc will not play check the TV settings. Have any other US-based folks experienced this? My guess is that the DVD is PAL-encoded and won't play on the US NTSC system.
Thanks,
Mark

Yeah - I had the same experience on my Sony DVP 9000 ES which says: "Can not play disc due to area limitations." However, it does play on my computer. I hope you enjoy the sacd as much as I!

Thanks Windy. Yes, this is a really enjoyable disc! I would love to see these same artists do ctos 12-27 plus 9.

that sounds like region coding, not NTSC vs. PAL.

I thought the two were equivalent. PAL everywhere but the US and Canada. Are you saying that in addition there is a code for region so that a disc will not play in a region not intended for its use?

No, DVD region coding and PAL/NTSC differences are not the same. R2 includes Japan which is NTSC for example.

So the question to ask is of PentaTone: Why wasn't the bonus DVD produced as a region 0 disc so we could all enjoy it? It is very nice as I know from viewing it on my computer!

I would like to hear about the DVD contents. Anyone care to comment?

A short clip from the recording session and a few moments from the control room. An interview. It is very dull and does not reflect the music making at all.

There are videos available on the website. I haven't checked if it is the complete content or just excerpts.
