Many great ideas for SACD releases since this thread began in 2007. The most requested I seen was more Pink Floyd especially WYWH, that wish was granted as well as a few others but most of the requested recordings still have not appeared on SACD.

RCA should make use of Nikolaj Znaider and Paavo Jarvi with the Chamber Philharmonie of Bremen and do the Beethoven violin concerto at minimum.

And why they never released Keith Jarrett's the Koln Concert as their only SACD title mystifies me as it was their best selling catalog title to date....but IS currently available as a 96/24 download from HDTracks.

Well, though "The Koln Concert" is of course one of the most important albums in the history of recorded music, I do not believe it should justify an SACD upgrade. The sound is good enough, but the music is the main theme there. The sound of the piano is not particularly special IMHO, as are of course Jarrett's beautiful musical ideas and unique playing. As you say, it is nonetheless available as a high res download (I have not heard this version yet, so I cannot comment on any audible differences between it and the old CD and LP I own).

There are newer recordings from the ECM catalog that would make impressive SACDs. They were probably recorded in high res digital format. I am thinking in Colin Vallon's "Rruga", the three Nik Bärtsch's Ronin albums, all the Tord Gustavsen CDs, Jarrett's "Rio", Valentin Silvestrov's "Bagatellen und serenaden", Marcin Wasilewski's "January", Tomasz Stanko's "Lontano", Dino Saluzzi's "Navidad de los Andes", among dozens. Anyway, ECM's RBCDs sound soooooo amazingly well.....

Beatles
Led Zeppelin
More Black Sabbath, especially: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Heaven and Hell and Dehumanizer
More Floyd: We got DSOTM and Wish You Were Here, but what about the other big ones like The Wall, Animals and Meddle? Heck, I think all of their albums would be great on SACD, but at the very least lets get the core albums out!
Metallica
System of A Down
Rage Against The Machine

I'm not sure if any of these bands would translate well into multi-channel format, but I just want the best possible sound quality, even if its just a stereo mix.

I would also LOVE it if the put out an SACD of Herbie Hancock's River: The Joni Letters.

Ricochet by Tangerine Dream - preferably in MCH.

ECM is very cagey about its engineering, but I have to believe their CDs have been issued in hi-res PCM. They are consistently great-sounding, with that distinctive, slightly resonant ECM sound, whether recorded in Oslo, New York (at Avatar), Turino etc.

How about some more solo piano ECMs in DSD-- Bley's Open, To Love, Jarrett's Facing You, Craig Taborn's Avenging Angel. Or Norma Winstone's or Suzanne Abbuehl's chamber music-style vocal albums. Dino Saluzzi's Senderos.

On the classical side: I'd love to have BIS's vivid recording of Carl Nielsen's great Clarinet Concerto reissued on SACD. Or ECM's Gesualdo Tenebrae Responsories with the Hilliard Ensemble, or its Part and Silvestrov....

Bonjour,

Je rêve de l'intégrale de la musique sacrée de Vivaldi éditée chez Hyperion, gravée par Robert King et le King Consort.

Et tant d'autres ! ! !

Bonne année à tous ! ! !

I'd like someone to steal Wit away from Naxos. Great hall, orchestra and chorus. Loved his Mahler 8 and now he's got an excellent Janacek cycle going. I also liked his Szymanowski.

Antoni Wit is, IMO, a world class conductor. He has never let me down.

Wit would be a great add, especially with some Polish composers. His Smetana Ma Vlast, as well, is quite excellent.
