I want to transfer a few SACD tracks to a Cd for my car player.

Recently I had my CD case stolen from the car and I had a few tracks from my SACD and DVD-A discs on them.

I have no problem with the DVD-A tracks but I can not remember how I transfered the SACD's .

I know I had them on the CD's and can only think that my analog out may not be working or is locked somehow.
I thought before I started changing wires I would make sure that I am right about the ability to rerecord SACD discs.

I know that it can not be done thru digital and I have an analog L/R from the SACD player to the CD Recorder which is what I thought I did bak them.

The recorder is a pro musician model and it has the ability to bypass any copy protect.

Thanks for any info,

Greg

Maybe you simpyl copied the CD layer onto anotehr CD using, e.g. Nero?

Well, I think that is something one can only do with hybrids. But I get the feeling he is talking about SACD only discs. But it might have been worth pointing that option out anyway since sometimes you forget about the simple solutions in life.

I can copy just about anything in the analog domain from a player to my computer using software I purchased for that purpose. If you have already done it previously on your set up, just connect the analog output of your player to the analog input on your recorder.

IF you are getting an analog output you can hear on your loudspeakers (IE, you actually can play SACDs,) then the signal should be available to your recorder and it should make the recording. Maybe the recorder is not working properly - did you check the ability to make an analog recording from another source?

Doh. Obviously that's what he meant, otherwise why copy the CD layer to another CD? For some reason I thought he meant playing, e.g. MP3 player through his car. Well, that's all I can think of that I could have thoguht he said. :-P

Sorry for not replying right away, yes they are SACD only.

I am thinking that my analog out or in is the problem after reading your thoughts.

I will test it tomorrow night.

thanks for the input, I know I did it (record analog) before just needed to confirm.

What kind of software do you have that would allow SACD's to be played via the computer?
Not sure if its worth getting for 10-12 song titles but it is good to know.

I have a MAC and iTunes of course, I also have Toast 8.

I know that the SACD shows on my desktop but its contents does not appear when I click it.

thanks again Greg

Because he might just want to have single tracks and not the whole CD. Because he does not want to have originals in the car since they might get stolen.
:-P

Here are detailled instructions for transferring analog sourced material (such as the analog output of a SACD player) to a CD-R:
