I picked up the individual ones on pre-order for $159. I am thrifty to a point, otherwise I would have liked the box set.

Anybody with the box set or at least a remastered cd in his/her hands? I have read in deadcandance.com that some have received the box set but no one with a sacd player. I pre-ordered the box set at amazon.co.uk wich has 30th of june as release date but no shipping news (I have pre-ordered some cd's before and they shipped them 2 or 3 days before the release date). I hope there's no trouble here. Now it seems that they ran out of stock! If someone receive them please do comment!!

I pre-ordered all nine titles from CD Universe for $141.42 + shipping and the release date has been listed as July 22nd.

I have received the box last Saturday and I must say it's really well worth it. The sound is more open, more vivid and much, much more details. Especially the older ones. Try first the old Within the Realm of a Dying Sun and then the SACD. It's like a completely new cd! You can play it very loud and I mean very, very loud! I really love this SACD boxset.

I ordered mine from NLSTORE.NL for almost 160 euro's.

I received an e-mail from amazon.co.uk that the release date has been moved to 24-30th of july... I'm wondering if I should cancel my order and try another site...

Woka thanks for the comments, I'm eagerly waiting to hear those sacd's and to see those mini-replicas!!

I've ordered my set from amazon.co.uk too and here was me thinking it was going to be on its way in just over a week's time. Instead, it's going to be almost another month!

Any idea what is causing the delays?

I visited a US website that I've often bought SACDs from before and it states 22 July as the release date for both the individual discs and the box set, so I guess that's it.

Nevertheless, it is interesting how Woka's supplier managed to get them before the others. His remarks about the remastering suggest that the wait will be worth it, though.

Yep, I visited cduniverse.com and two more sites and they have 22th july as the release date...is confusing what is happening with all these release theme. But as you said Johnno, it'll be worth it, besides amazon.co.uk was the cheapest option for me =) so let's wait.

CD WOW seems to have these in stock. Yesterday they had a $2 off campaign so I ordered: Into the Labyrinth, Toward the Within and Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
In less than 24 hours I received a notification of shipment.

I have received my box set on 01/07/2008, from jpc.

My first impressions are:
Superb presentation of the box and the mini-LPs.
Great, exquisite music.
The sound quality varies within the same disc but is better and more consistent on the later works than on the older ones.

A final, ironic note: the discs say "Made and distributed by Warner Music Japan, a Warner Music Group company". That one of the most significant 2008 SACD releases, so far, comes from WMG is the supreme irony of the current SACD state.
