Zeus, this disc is very good and I also have the eighth edition which is excellent too. Could you add it?

Hi Julien,
AS I have one of the high-end Marantz universal players, I feel I should get hold of the latest of these test/demo discs; thanks for drawing my attention to them. The STS Digital site listed as source on the SA-CD.net page for the 7th disc lists 9 of these discs, plus a new one - the 'Ultimate' multi-channel SACD demo disc - which does not bear the Marantz name. But the site appears to have no way of buying the products, and their list of International Suppliers seems mainly to be specialised hifi shops, and none in the UK. Where did you buy yours from, please, and what sort of cost was it?

Those demo discs are expensive, usually sold the equivalent of 25 euros or at least 20 euros here in Beijing, but since I know the dealers I got them for the price they bought it from Guangzhou which is 15 euros. You have to know that most of the CDs and audio equipment we buy in China are smuggled from Hong-Kong (Guangzhou people do it, which is also why the biggest audiophile place in China is GZ, many LP freaks).

Julien, you may be pleased to know there's a 10th edition in the meantime, plus another demo disc in STS/Marantz 'Acoustic Solutions' series (volume 3; somehow also the 24th edition in the Essence of Music series).

Thank you. But honestly I just might buy it, only if I get to hear it. I hope you guys check my review of Ma Recordings' "Ma on Sa". It's musically and sonically so good that I'd rather buy another copy of that one.

Apparently there are two new ones in the meantime. Not yet listed here, but as I don't own them I'm not supposed to submit them. Someone (not me) is currently offering them on eBay but I will not post the links here. I may mail them if anyone's interested.
