I hope that is in Blu-ray with DTS MA!

Honestly, I don't know what DTS MA is. That technique is way past my pay-grade.

But the technique was supplied by NHK (the Japanese State TV), so I will assume that it was state-of-the-art.

The sound was BIS, of course, 24/96.

My kudos to your engineers. The hall accoustic was captured perfectly and this is one of the best recordings from BIS or any company that I have yet heard. Listen to the final movement of the Sibelius 4 and it is just eerie how good the dynamic range is from PPPP to ff. Oh, and the performances are really great.

When will it be posted on here Robert? Saw the cover shot on Pacwin's site and it really is a lovely pic. Covetable at first sight which cannot be bad news.

dear Robert, condolences on the death of Gunilla. I know you weren't a couple anymore but you must have shared many memories, including both your roles in the early days of BIS. best wishes, paul

We were, and are, always joined by our two children. Thank you for your words. We had close contacts just before her demise, and it felt really good.

I did not at first see this thread so I created a new one a short time ago. But seeing it now I'll ask the same question I asked there:

Is there any possibility Robert that you will issue SACD versions of volumes 1-27 of the sacred cantatas?

Some of the earlier volumes not available on SACD are available as 24/44 stereo downloads on eclassical. Starting with Vol.16 or so (recorded in 1999/2000). SACD releases started with Vol. 28.

I don't know if those had been recorded in multi-channel, which would be a decisive factor for releasing them on SACD.

Robert has stated in the past that there is no reason to release the early volumes on sacd. The anniversary box sets are likely hard to find now, but they offered great value.

It is DONE!!!!!!!!!

Am presently in a sunny Kobe, Japan, and we have just finished the last chorus of the last Cantata in the Bach Collegium Japan`s cycle, in vol 55.

18 years of work, hard but happy, is over.

At the same time that I am relieved that we actually could go through with this, it will leave a big hole somewhere inside me. I am addicted to having 3 volumes of Cantatas every year.

Well, I suppose Mozart (Requiem) and other stuff will have to replace it.

Bestest from an exhausted Robert

Suzuki guest conducted the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorus in two performances of Handel's Messiah late last year in Northern California. After having the privilege to attend the Berkeley performance I enthusiastically endorse Suzuki and his forces in Handel oratorios.
