No, please, here I have to decry my own goods.

Since the original recordings for some 25 volumes in the Bach Cantata Cycle are in 16/44,1, the upsampling them and doing surround will make no difference to you at all, so you shouldn't buy them as SACD:s, unless you can use the surround. Basically we are doing this only for the Complete Box set.

We will redo some of the editing in some volumes, but that will make no difference either to the average listener - it is only to please super-sensitive me.

Robert -- I sincerely hope that the "Boxed Set Only" diktat will be reconsidered for those of us (like me!) who have religiously purchased each and every SACD of the Suzuki Bach Cantatas as they've been released. Of course I would very much like to have each and every of the first 25 volumes in the synthesized 5.0 surround, but it is an incredible "kick in the pants" to be told to get these I must now re-purchase volumes 26 through 55. Most unfair, IMO. Please consider making the first 25 available in paper sleeves, perhaps, as a bare-bones offering to us loyal Suzuki fans!

Modern AVRs have a number of fake multichannel DSP options that are probably as good as whatever treatment BIS will apply to the first 27 volumes. There's no way I'm paying someone else to apply fake multichannel to RBCDs I already own, especially when I can do it myself for free.

Robert, another plea to reconsider making we loyal customers who've paid fill price for all the Bach Cantatas SACDs to either miss out on 1 - 27 altogether or contemplate duplicating those we've already bought. I agree with JP that that does seem pretty unfair.

I will most certainly have to think about this, but I really cannot say that you'd miss out on the 1-27. They are there, for sale everywhere. The only enhancement is that we have worked hard to create a fake surround, and upsampled them. The latter should make no difference, and the first, well, I think it is an improvement, but, as has been stated above, most machines can do it, too (albeit perhaps not as well as our Tonmeister).

Thank you for the response and the promise of consideration of this matter -- much appreciated. Yes, I have a very good AVR that does effective synthesis of stereo content into multichannel. But the point is, of course, the desire to listen to the results of the BIS Tonmeister, not my Marantz or my neighbor's Onkyo.

And for the record I already own most of Volumes 1 - 26, many of which contain some of JSB's most significant and magnificent cantatas and I have no problem whatsoever in replacing these discs with the SACD upgrades -- but not 27 - 55, all of which I have already spent much treasure in acquiring (and worth every bit, I hasten to add!).

ever considered to release the whole Bach cantatas cycle on blu-ray disc? These discs have plenty of space for the original PCM recordings, resulting in just a few discs for the whole cycle...

When I asked, I was told that the entire series would fit on one, single blu-ray in CD-quality sound. The merits of such a disc would be inestimable, for the sheer convenience of negotiating through all the cantatas.

yes, and even the 24-bit stereo version should result in just 2-3 discs. Surround should work with 5-7 discs.

But, btw, having bought all the previously released CDs and ripped into FLAC, it should be easy to burn such a blu ray disc on your own. (if you have a blu ray burner). Just for your convenience.

Hello. Is there any chance that Ronald Brautigam will record the Beethoven piano trios? Thanks, Simon.

I don't think that there is a solution to this mess. Before I was into SACD, I bought 10 of the Suzuki cd's. Then the anniversary cantata edition came out and I bought those (except I missed vol 3!). Then I got into SACD, but I haven't bought any of the Suzuki SACD's, because of my prior experience with the cd's. But somehow, we're both losers - your not selling me any of the sacd's, and I'm already invested and poised to re-invest when the sacd series comes out. I'm not buying any of the Brautigam Mozart ctos because I can wait and get the whole thing cheaper at the end. but you probably need me/us to buy now in order to support your business model. as I said, what a mess. I do buy a lot of BIS sacd's, so I'm not a total slacker. so there's that.
