If you have this disc lingering on your WishList like I did, NOW is the time to grab a copy. It is being discontinued on all the major sites. I found an Amazon.com Third-Party vendor who charges even less than the cheapest major vendor.

True. The best piano recording I've heard so far.

The supply situation applies to all the Universal stable recordings - if you want them, buy now before they're gone.

Which labels/recordings are affected by this? Is the list below complete and/or correct?

What she said to me was that there were no more SACD's in the pipeline (of course, they might build another pipeline but...) I must be honest to say that I am usually only interested in the classical sphere (bar the odd thing here or there). All companies have a particular number of discs pressed - those committed to SACD I suspect will have them re-pressed but those like Universal clearly haven't.

I left the industry 7 months ago (I was a Tower Records manager), but before I left I was told by someone within Universal (admittedly, not very high up the food-chain) that they would continue to sell off the stock they had but would not repress. That to me seemed to explain why pop titles (Elton John, Diana Krall, etc.) have tended to disappear--not that they have more loyal Super Audio buyers, but that people ended up buying them by accident without understanding what there potential is.

Personally, I've tried to buy up things on labels I fear are no longer supporting the format; unfair maybe to the PentaTones, but what to do? I've broken the proverbial bank buying up those Japanese Universal catalog items, and I'm still hoping to get a handful more if I'm not too late.

I'm also getting the sense that Hyperian's commitment--never strong in the first place--might be cooling. Anyone have any word on that score?

canonical's review prompted me to re-audit this disc. My memory of it was quite favourable, but that is no doubt influenced by my fondness for the Moments and for Mitsuko.

I am listening now as I type, and enjoying it as much as ever (cf Julien's comment about 'best piano'). True, in DSD I can hear the 1962ness of the piano (my sister gave recitals on one, so the vintage is burned into my brain...); a Schubertian forte-piano would be more authentic, but thankfully it's NOT a 12 foot-long SuperGrand -- this isn't Liszt. I find the recording heart-warmingly intimate, as if I were on the piano bench beside Uchida (nice thought).

After some thought on the matter, I marked canonical's review as Not Helpful. Although he has every right to dislike this recording for his given reasons, his lack of enjoyment need not stand as a barrier to others who may well enjoy this disc (if they can find a copy).

PS: I also marked canonical's review of Gould/Goldbergs 1981 as Helpful, since I found his analysis and conclusions quite convincing.
