The newsletter from Pentatone revealed some delightful news. A Bruckner cycle with Janowski and the Suisse Romande orchestra, no 9 already recorded.

thanks edvin, this could indeed be very exciting.

what sort of shape is the suisse romande in at the minute? they wouldn't initially strike me as an ideal bruckner orchestra, but who knows, they might be.

it seems from your post they are the orchestra for the whole series.

Looking at the concert schedule of the orchestra, it seems that after the 9th symphony, the 5th and 7th will be performed in the first half of 2008.

I wonder if Pentatone was able to secure the hall in which Ansermet was recorded. It has to be one of the best ever. I'm just a back-seat listener, but if Pentatone has the Suisse Romande, it would be great if they could hunt down Dutoit to work with them. I've read he got thrown out of Montreal but I still think he's the real deal and could deliver some classic recordings....

The Bruckner series is being recorded in the Victoria Hall.

Check out the Pentatone website. If it isn´t there it will probably surface soon.
