Maybe I am late and this message is not a new one: BMG plans to release a first batch of RCA Living Stereo SACDs in October resp. end of September. I got these news at the High End in Munich. The new mastering is done in Boston, analogue direct to DSD. A link concerning the mastering: http://www5.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=63981

At this rate they could beat the Mercuries. Thanks for the news, I'd forgotten about these.

I have a couple of the Living Stereo operas on CD and would love to replace them with SACDs. According to the photos in the liner notes these performances were captured with more than 3 mikes so also multichannel mixes seem possible. Puccini's Turandot with Leinsdorf and Price on multichannel SACD? I hope it will not remain a dream.:-)

Kind regards.

I have got the information, that the later 3 channel recordings of the Living Stereos will be released as MC resp. as three channel with a center channel. But I do not know, wether they plan to release operas. I hope so too, because I love operas!

This is fantastic news and I'm as excited about it as I am about the forthcoming MLPs. The Munch Saint-Saëns 3rd should be truly thrilling as should the Reiner Bartók Concerto for Orchestra and Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta.
