I linked to Amazon for 2 Rolling Stone titles (Beggar's Banquet & Let It Bleed) through the link provided on doing a search of the reviews section of this site. The opinion had been given that if I linked to Amazon through this site that I would go to SACD versions. Well the titles arrived on Friday and they appear to be CDs that have undergone DSD rematering only. There is no SACD sticker or the SACD logo anywhere on the case. Also, these came in jewel cases and I was told that the SACD of RS came in digipaks.

Its not my intention to blame anyone here as I realize the information was given in good faith. But for the administrators of this site, I suggest that you purge these links. I assume that most, like me, coming to this site are interested in SACDs and not sinply DSD remastered CDs.

Have you tried the discs in your player? What's the barcode for the discs you received?

Laurence,

The Rolling Stones discs are a special case, since the label replaced the hybrid SACDs with "DSD-remastered" CDs using the same catalog number. The confusion was inevitable.

Beggars Banquet Barcode: 18771 95392

Let It Bleed Barcode: 18771 90042

Both CDs say "DSD Remastered," but both are in jewel cases. On an earlier thread someone told me that the actual SACDs come in digipaks, rather than jewel cases. So I have assumed that these are 16 bit CDs that were simply remastered using DSD.

I haven't opened either one yet as I want to return them if they are not SACDs.
If anyone can confirm that these are indeed true SACDs, please let me know as it will save me the hassle of the return process.

Thanks

They may have just changed the packaging. Digipaks are apparently more expensive to manufacture than jewel boxes (though I would have thought the difference in cost negligible). If anyone can confirm that they're NOT SA-CDs, I'll pull the links for the corresponding barcodes. There's a number of barcodes for each title.

Amazon are generally pretty good with returns/refunds and may not even ask for the discs to be sent back.
