Hi,

I have been looking to buy a few SACDs for monthes, but it seems they are not available anymore.

For example I have been looking for Indochine - the Birthday album, or Paul Van Dyk - Reflections SACD, but they are out of stock everywhere. These items are sometimes available on ebay, but for unbelievable prices like $80 or more.

Is there a chance these albums get re-edited ?

I don't really understand what's happening here. On one hand "they" say the SACD format is dead because they don't sell enough... on the other hand I can find many sacds that are sold out, and people are fighting on ebay to get them ?!?

Best regards,

stipus

Some labels do not press so many SACD for each title and may not press more when they are out of stock.

Some web store may still have the SACD, though.

This Van Dyk SACD seems to be one of the rarest SACDs. This has been discussed elsewhere on the forum.

Many other SACDs are now OOP, but still rather easy to find.

Because most of these discs are on labels which have abandonned the format, it's very unlikely that they will be re-pressed. Some hybrid titles have been reissued on CD after the SACDs went OOP(for example the Rolling Stones SACDs).

This is just my thinking....you should consider a SACD title to be out-of-print whenever it's released and pick it up as soon as you can. Unless the title is issued by a major label by a major artist (on a worldwide basis), it's extremely rare for a SACD title to be re-pressed/re-issued. While SACDs by artists such as Peter Gabriel and the Police are considered out-of-print, you'd have a much better chance of picking those titles up because they were pressed in multiple countries in multiple versions (single-layer and hybrid)
