Although not officially released Neeme Järvi’s first SACD has been for sale in connection with GSO concerts. This all-Tchaikovsky disc is a dangerously dynamic recording, at my usual volume setting the introduction (Adagio) can barely be heard at all. The recording team is Lennart Dehn and Michael Bergek as always on BIS and Deutsche Grammophon recordings with this orchestra. It is a studio recording.

Francesca da Rimini Op. 32
Track 5) 24’48

Hybrid SACD in Stereo and 5.0 Surround

Thanks, I added this here: Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6, Francesca da Rimini - Neeme Järvi

Now that we have a medium that supports this, I'm wondering what people think about these recordings with natural orchestral dynamics. Do you find them difficult to play as you're always jumping up to change the volume? Or do you want to hear the crescendos in their full glory? Is it impracticable to try to portray a full orchestra in your living room at all? I find I'm playing these when I've got the house to myself. I'd be interested in any comments.

Thanks for the update, I am a fan of the Gothenburg SO with Neeme Yärvi they have an amazing sound that very few orchestra's can match. They also have done some less common pieces that I love. I hope they continue to release more of there work!
