When I converted my old Pioneer dvd-player to all-region I only had to press a certain code with the remote. I found the code by searching on Google, simply writing name and number of the player.

What I don't get is that US retailers don't sell dual NTSC/PAL machines that they can & do sell in Europe.

my guess is it stems from the original region encoding that DVDs were to use when the standard came out. They probably didnt think about region free titles.

The fact that PAL-compatible DVD players are hard to find in the US boils down to the simple fact that most US consumers care very little about movies that are released abroad.

The PAL/NTSC split has nothing to do with region coding. DVD Region 2 for instance covers Europe (PAL) as well as Japan (NTSC). And region-free titles have been envisaged (and made) since the very beginning.

Just order the boxset on Amazon.fr

Together with the new Depeche Mode remasters, this will lower my bank account considerabely. Damn.

Genesis 1976-1982

It's cheaper then buying them seperately.

The primary reasons are that:

1. 99% of the televisions sold in the US are hard-wired for NTSC.

2. The vast majority of Americans are completely uninterested in foreign films/ videos.

I'm very much looking forward to the release of the re-mastered Genesis albums.
However, there is no mention at all of any plans to release any of their official live albums ie "Seconds Out" "Three Sides Live" and "Genesis Live".
I'll be VERY disappointed if none of these are released. I can't understand why.
Any suggestions anybody...?

From all the info I remember last year it is now the time for the Most anticipated set of The triple Genesis releases, That being the Gabriel era. Has anyone heard anything regarding when these discs will be available? supposedly they were to be ready at the end of 07/start of 08. I have been waiting for 5.1 Lamb for years!

Yes........Nick Davis confirmed on the Genesis website about two weeks ago that the last Gabriel era SACD box will be out May 08. It was pushed back from March becuase of the release of the Live tour DVD, "When In Rome"
