Does anyone know of a reliable source for obtaining the SACDs produced by EXTON in Japan?

I am located in the United States.

http://www.hmv.co.jp

(for English version, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on 'English')

I've been an HMV customer for a long time (whether its in person at their retail locations, or online: hmv.ca (now sadly merged with amazon), hmv.com.au , hmv.co.uk or hmv.co.jp .

JSACDs are expensive, even in the shops in Tokyo. I bought a few when I was there last year. Exton recently dropped their list price from Y4000 (from memory) to Y3000 for new titles (these are all now hybrids). HMV Japan is actually cheaper than retail as you don't have to pay the 5% tax. The killer though is courier delivery. If you make a big order, it may be worthwhile. Exton has some good stuff in their catalogue.

When I was in Toronto I dropped by HMV on Yonge (well the bigger one, I only peeked in one of the smaller Yonge HMVs) and the prices were rather similar to those around here. Though in Montreal we no longer have much choice. It used to be that the main HMV store had some great prices, added to the HMV CD Club card, rebates could be substantial.

Ever since SamtheRecordMan closed its Montreal shops however, HMV prices have risen, often to ridiculous levels. The HMV CD Club card was abolished, making CDs even more expensive. But in the end, when it comes to brick stores, it's either HMV or Archambault. Archambault has traditionally been the more expensive one. When HMV listed something as $24.99, Archambault listed it as $28.99. Now their prices are relatively similar. Since Archambault is further away than HMV from where I live, I usually don't bother going the extra couple of kilometers to Archambault.
Music World is ridiculous: poor selection, ultra-high prices. Future Shop is a joke that should close down its music and DVD section. Indigo is not much better. Independent stores are few and prices as high as the big chains.

In the end, even with shipping, CDplus.com is cheaper than any of the retail outlets around here.

With help from a mate of mine in Tokyo, I've finally managed to find all the Exton titles on amazon.co.jp (with the exception of one superseded and other not yet released). You'll find the links for all of these here:

See my post elsewhere on navigating your way around amazon.co.jp.
