Discussion: SACD Surround Sound Reference Disc

In Oakland's review of this disc, he questions its current availability. I'm not sure how easy/hard it would be to find this disc, but for anyone who wants the same kind of test tracks and setup information, Pentatone's Stay In Tune With Pentatone disc is really useful. It has the pink noise tests, phase (polarity) tests, imaging tests, and a really creative subwoofer calibration section among other things. I actually think the Pentatone tests are licensed from Philips, interestingly enough.

Yes, I too have heard good things about the Pentatone disc. The important thing is that music lovers with SACD multi-channel systems get the most out of them by a least starting fresh with a SACD (not HT) multi-channel reference disc with calibration tones.

You can (next to as "Stay in Tune with PentaTone") also find this item under the title "Super Audio CD Sampler Volume 2" (catalogue nr PTC 5186 086)in some countries which have run out of stock of the original version. The content is the same. 70 minutes of music (complete movements taken from various PentaTone albums) plus sound effects and test tones.

It is a.o. available from the PentaTone website: http://www.pentatonemusic.com/

Best, Pentaman
