Universal/DG was going to release it (I can be sure I read it somewhere).
Has it been shelved (as other DG releases on SACD)?

There seems little chance of the DG studio version being released. Even if this happens, it sounds like a nasty early digital recording.

However, there are many 'live' Kleiber Tristans around, and also of his Otello. If Orfeo can release his Beethoven 7 on SACD, there must be a Kleiber Tristan from Munchen or Bayreuth on analogue tape which could be transferred to SACD. Perhaps some of our German correspondents can pester Orfeo to see if this is possible.
