Disappointing to know Bjork's 'Surrounded' box set is out on Dual Disc!

Wasted opportunity for an artist who worked on her last two releases with surround music in mind and releasing on less musical DTS & Dolby Digital format.

...maybe it'll be available in Europe on SACD?

Sadly, it will be DVD in Europe too. Looks like Universal isn't releasing SACDs anymore. They had already paid for SACD mastering and the albums have been mastered for SACD but decided to go with DVD instead. You would think that someone like Bjork would be upset that their work is not getting the treatment it deserves.

There is no good reason that this box couldn't have been made as SACD + DVD. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why do artists put up with this nonsense from the record companies?

It is because Universal is just a mere shadow of its former glory...I bet the now deceased master of recordings (like Culshaw and all former masters) are rolling in their graves in disgust over how far Universal has fallen....

Get rid of the penny counters at Universal before it is too late....then again, it is likely too late to repair the damage done by people who clearly don't know squat about music...SAD!!!

Cheers

I'm confused how a group for SACD listeners could have missed that SONY who developed the technology has abandoned it, allowing DVD-Audio to win. Unfortunately, Sony and it's affiliates refuse to pay licencing for DVD-Audio so they are relegated to Dolby 5.1 and DTS. Still, a massive improvement over standard 16/44khz disk, just not the same.

DVD-Audio offers just as high a resolution as SACD, and is more easily compatable with DVD players as it does not require the disk to spin at unholly speeds as SACD does.

The shame is that the Bjork box is not in either format, but I will still buy for the DTS surround as it is still a vast improvement.

DVD-Audio has already gone the way of the dodo. SACD is still alive and strong.
