I have to put two amps in a cabinet that I have made custom, looks like a window seat but really holds the two amps. When in use there face will show but when not in use the interior sliding doors will close, actually looks really cool.

Yes, my wife made me do it. I don't know whats wrong with two amps sitting on the floor.

I have no experience with cooling fans, they are not that expensive compared to audio parts in general but I of course am worried about noise and electrical interference that will ultimately degrade my listening experience.

Anybody have experience? They sell a lot of them on Amazon under the title of Stereo Fans.

Came across these fans: http://hometheatercooling.com/ Read the positive reviews on the right.

Another recommendation: since those amps probably run hot and are now in an enclosed environment, you might think about elevating them on 1-2" solid Brass spikes so they dissipate heat from top and bottom. You probably only need three per amp (one in rear and two in front) and believe it or not, they might even sound better. http://shop.mapleshadestore.com/Brass-Footers/departments/96/

I use 2" Triplepoints under my massive Krell amps. Also decouples them from the floor.

I was thinking of a cooling far too and the one Ralph suggested seems super quiet. If you install one to suck air out, you'll have solved two things: trapped hot air and heating for your listening room :)

I can tell from looking at the log when I have been listening. The room is very well insulated, and the temperature always goes up when the receiver is on.
Usually a degree or two.

As far as fans, the most noise will be from the blades, not interference from the motor. I can't use some of my pro audio amps for listening, as some of them are too noisy, in this regard.

Keep your amplifiers sitting on the floor, as they will definitely run cooler, be more reliable and last longer.

I purchased the predecessor (AVR-3310) to my current AVR in 2009. It was in an enclosed fan-cooled cabinet. I had all kinds of issues with those fans, such as cleaning the filters quite periodically and fans getting noisier when filters get dirty. These were low-noise fans (18 dBa), yet they were still annoying even when the filters were clean.

I can't help but believe the environment the 3310 was running in, contributed to it's early demise in late 2012. In November of that year it died, and was immediately replaced by current AVR within 2-3 days. Needless to say, the 3313 has been running fault-free for almost 3 years, due to it's open operating environment.

This is the rack I've been using since 2012:

... and I'm sure there are similar designs in your country.

Yeah, it sure looks SA-CD.net is getting fewer and fewer visitors, as the interest in physical disk has declined. Not much to read here recently.

Just an addendum to my earlier post.

Watch out for hot-spots that are internal to your bit of kit. Even though there seems to be adequate internal cabinet air-flow, there are always hot-spots in amplifier, AVR ... etc. that will be resistant to that air-flow.

Use the kit as it was designed to be used.

AmonRa, perhaps you wandered into the incorrect thread for disc analysis.

At least we know you're not a "fanboy!"

Don't you know AmonRa, that according to others this site is in decline because of a new site, but we are all using it everyday, nonstop, I am still putting up reviews, etc.

In fact it is better than before like the wild west now.

Lain, like the tip on fans especially that one that fits in between two amps, pretty cool.

Wish I could just leave them on the floor or also get the rack with spikes that you showed. I like that to, but the window cabinet is a done deal.
