I would find it very hard to believe that I would be the first to say on this forum how good the player is, but I can definately say the Arcam DV137 is a wonderful machine. Admittedly, it is my first high-end player, so I have had limited chance to make comparisons with other hi-res players. I did attend a demo of the Arcam DV139 way back in either October or November 2006, at the same time as my DV137. Richard Trotter of Arcam actually carried out the demo, and the results were astounding! Both machines are extremely impressive with SACD, DVD-A & V. There is also the DV135, although I believe it only plays SACD in stereo.

I had troubles with my DV137. It would not play DVD-A discs sampled at a rate higher then 96 kHz. I've recieved a software patch for this. Check if your player supports DVDA sampled at 192 kHz. If it does, then you have the latest software.
The new software version also plays SACD in surround (in the very beginning, the DV137 only supported SACD stereo)!!!

Yes - I had read a while ago that the early DV137s did not support MCH. That was before I bought mine, which was December 2006.
I haven't got the information to hand (or stored in my head), but I do know that I don't have the latest software. The latest version is 5.06, which I'll upgrade when I have the disc - hopefully this weekend. I'm on the 3rd version since having it, although I don't have any real problems with the way it works. That wasn't the case with the 1st or 2nd software versions, though. It is a stunning piece of kit, and I'm overjoyed with it!

I can't believe what I'm seeing. Earlier this year, Marantz finally brought multi-channel to its Reference Series, with the AV8003 and MM8003 pre/power amp combination. This to serve as a good kit to hook up to the BD8002 Blu-ray Disc player (which doesn't belong in this series, it appears, judging by its design). I was expecting to finally see multichannel SACD/CD players in Marantz's Reference Series but what do we get instead? More stereo players. Have they lost their marbles? Who on earth is waiting for this?
SA8003: ¯¥ 94,500 SA7003: ¥ 63,000
