So, 7T, you prefer the Audi...

It's also a reference to U2, quoting this in Zooropa.

Shame, shame, shame these albums were never issued on SACD.

Have no fear, 7T..........Universal's BD~A launch will include music from U2.....and it's about time.

That's why we have 'Universal' Players ;)

It's players like these and the companies that make them that are helping destroy SACD. Standardise what's offered by SACD players and you reduce confusion and improve the market.

I doubt they are even aware of the existence of SACD but they are not the only Ostrich in town. The venerable Audio Research keep churning out CD-only players in it's much vaunted and much over-hyped Reference series and don't even get me started on British "hi fi" companies that keep churning out CD only tat or I'll be banned for using every obscene expletives known to erh... an audiophile!

As far as I am aware Ken Kessler is the only serious pundit on these shores who even acknowledges SACD and he is an honorary Brit from the other side of the Pond.

What I want (and so would hirefox) is the Marantz SA11s3 hybrid convertible with SACD player.

with surround naturally.

Naturally, hirefox!

And Zero to 60 in 100 decibels.......the Marantz hybrid convertible, that is.

You can't expect it to travel at the speed of sound...after all, it's a hybrid.

Plug and Play.

And of course, we'd have to tweak the wires running to the carburetor with Shakti on lines.

So, SACD won out against DVD audio and now there is a Blue-Ray audio format. Am I interpretiing this correctly? You'd think it would make more sense to back SACD and try to increase the market rather than splinter an already teensy tiny market.

Major record companies follow trends and it would seem that since SACD remains a niche market that Blu Ray has (in the minds of these companies) more of a cache....akin to the DVD launch which captivated the masses which, initially, even CD failed to capture.

But like DVD (for video) DVD for audio lost the battle to SACD and I fear that a similar fate will befall Blu ray audio as the masses still perceive it was a video medium.

And lauching the initial offering of 50~60 titles in France is another surprising outcome as one of our posters who resides in France stated that the French are not into multichannel nor hi rez music.

But then, again, the dualdisc launch was in Boston and Washington State and that flawed format only lasted a scant few years.

Maybe oneday they'll get it right. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yep! Unfortunately the future of audio has been handed over to computer geeks and movie moguls. Everyone in the audio industry saw it coming, indeed many experts warned of the dangers but nobody in audio (as usual) did anything about it.

If you don't set the Agenda then you don't get the outcomes you want. Set the Agenda write the Minutes - OK?

This dam has burst :-(
