Up to 150 SACDs now. My new dCS Puccini arrives tomorrow, a splendid weekend will no doubt ensue!

Hurry up buying more more SACDs. You are not going to waste this $18.000 player on CDs, are you? ;-)

Yes, I do :-)

Unfortunately, I never trusted e-bay due to way too much dirty tricks

I tried used SA-CDs for a while, thinking SA-CD users are more careful with their discs than any average people, yet I have been disappointed from time to time, so I only purchase real new items now.

Pity, because most people on there are quite genuine.

Pity, try buying a few from me via Amazon Used - offered as virtually new because they have been played only once or twice prior rationalisation.

Never say Never!

Greg, I am truly envious and pleased for you - not sinful envy of the biblical sense. It is hard to imagine any front-end combination out-performing the Puccini regulated by the U-clock. In my system the SA-7 / U-clock was virtually a match for the Puccini (on trial) in limited testing. Maybe when my old war-horse needs putting out to grass... Let me know when you want to sell it at half price!

You can't have it all of course and most of my money in recent years has gone on SACDs and not the kit, nearing 900 now so that's about £12k worth....

Thanks John. I may aquire a U-clock in the next few months. Certainly a good upgrade when I tried it briefly with my dCS P8i.

As a bonus, a DSD-over-USB software upgrade will be rolling out for the Puccini later this year. Then I can connect a PC/Mac to the U-clock and play DSD downloads through the Puccini's DAC section. I know they're generally pretty expensive at the moment and actual SACD discs will continue to be my main format, but it's an option I'll be very interested to try out.

Maybe I should celebrate the Puccini's arrival with a bumper SACD-buying spree at Amazon? :)

I've had my Puccini U-clock for three weeks now - thanks to you and Hiredfox for helping push me in its direction - and if it has the same effect on the dCS Puccini player that it has on my Marantz SA7 it's a no-brainer. It's almost unbelievable the difference it makes in my system - the speakers seem to disappear, there seem to be real musicians in a real space, subtleties of phrasing and timbre are astonishing - and my RBCDs are sounding a lot closer to SACDs :-) Maybe the best upgrade I've ever made.

Hallelujah! You have found the nearest thing to Heaven on Earth. Congratulations on joining our pilgrimage to Damascus! Glad to have helped in some small way.

Those that have ears to hear....

Rough estimate: 150. But through trading and selling I have been through about 400. I'll trade them for vinyl or gear. I don't care of something is worth a lot, or out of print if I'm not listening to it.

I traded a ton of SHM-SACD's, maybe 30 (not a ton), for a guy who worked for Kimber Kable and ended up with $3500 in power cords, speaker cable and interconnects

Sounds like a great deal. Kimber Kable makes IsoMike recordings /titles/0/439/date/100/1 , worth checking out.
