Why the hell didn't Sony call it Super CD, therefore giving us the three letter acronym, SCD?

Well they called their best ever player SCD-XA5400ES

How about "Polly's Corner" after our Zeus appointed moderator Polly Nomial?

Has a folksy friendly ring to it.

Derek, SCD has a similar connotation to STD........one is "communicated" while the other is "trasmitted."

yeah Polly's Corner does have a cool friendly vibe to it: motion to rename website to Polly's Corner, seconded!

It wouldn't take much for SCD to be confused with STD because with 'communicated', it's there already.

A very far out option that's almost certainly too radical is Hi-Res Audio, making the easy to say and write three letter acronym, HRA. Whatever, I'll take almost anything over the current clunky name of SA-CD.net !!!

In fact, all the Sony audio-only SACD players used the SCD acronym, starting with the SCD-1.

It's nice to see so many of you in my corner. The revolution (of discs) continues! :)

As above. When writing or speaking with friends, SA-CD.net is a pita to reference because there doesn't seem to be a neat abbreviation. Lots of forums and can be abbreviated to three-letter acronyms (itself a TLA), but no SA-CD.net.

Why would one need an abbreviation? Are you that freaking lazy?
Has texting ruined the world to this point?

Ess Aye Cee Dee dot net
(Ess Aye dash Cee Dee dot net, if you are into perfunctory.)
"the SACD forum" works fine. (SACD forum was the google search that brought me here.)

Any three of those will get you here first page on google. But I just don't get the problem.
Are you one of those idiots who says "tee kay ess", because you think that three letters is shorter than a one syllable "thanks"?

Do you just have problems talking to people IRL?
(Do you like how I tried to relate to you there?)

To me, people who throw around abbreviations in casual conversation sound out of touch with human interaction. I can remember several interviews on the radio where the interviewer had to stop the person and ask them what the abbreviation stood for, as everyone who is not an "expert" being interviewed, would not know.

Abbreviations are for the lazy, and drive me nuts. If I have to google it to figure out what you are writing, that is not good communication.

Would you hypothetically vote for "Jeb Bush" over "Hillary Clinton" because five syllables is just too much for you?
