Just picked this up but haven't opened it yet. It's a good thing I just read the reviews of it here. It's going back for exchange.

I did a review here of 'The Look Of Love' a while back and unfortunately from what I can gather 'The Girl in the Other Room' is more of the same without even some of the "standards".

Pity, she displayed a real Jazz talent in her first albums and those would merit SACDing. It's her choice but, IMHO, I wish she would stick with what she is really good at....Jazz.

I dont think the songs are anywhere near as good as "When I Look in your Eyes" and I would agree that she should stick to the American Songbook to play from.

My friend has one also and he thinks its pretty good. It's just that I want to spend my resources on music I know I really like as there is so much out there. Unfortunately I have enough SACD titles that don't "move me" just sitting there gathering dust already.

I must be one of the fews who welcomed her move away from american standards. An album that grows on you, and hopefully not the last SACD from Krall.

I agree with Monotone that this album grows on you. Somehow I knew I was going to like Temptation before I heard it. I became aquainted with Ms. Kralls name throught the Klipsh forum. It seemed like every other song or album mentioned was Diana Krall so I took a chance without having read any reviews.
Again it took some effort on my part to let this grow on me. She certainly does have the feminine thing going on and I find the sensual quality of her voice compelling. Since I'm new to SACD I can't say much about the quality or the details of the music but I'm greatly appreciative of the recordings vs CD or even most vinyl because of the clarity and precision. I know this flys in the face of some more knowlegeable listeners but its just my opinion. I'm crazy about SACD.

Agreed--the first listen left me cold and it sat untouched for months; one day I was bored and slipped the disc in to see if I still didn't care for it and was surprised at how much I'd changed my opinion. I enjoy many tracks from it now.

I don't think it does, not at all. In fact your description is spot-on.
