Why is this 4300 yen? Does it have the box packaging?

Because, in Japan, it is. Those are the going prices for remasterings in the most current format.

Well, if you look at the price for Bryan Ferry Boys And Girls, that one is 3910 yen (4223 in Japan) and the Peer Gynt is 4300 yen (4644 in Japan). That's what is odd.

Just overpriced I guess. Found one on an auction website and it looks the same as the cheaper releases (no box).

If you check the prices of ALL current SHM~SACDs at Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc and Music Direct....they charge $59.95 for the exact same remasters....so consider CDJapan's prices a "bargain," cupboy!

BTW, the "box" packaging has been discontinued on all current SHM~SACD releases. All come in Mini LP sleeves and the roughly 100 'repressed' SHM~SACD reissues come in standard RBCD cases with the obi strip.

There are quite a few good alternative performances of these pieces on SACD, particularly the Suites, and the RBCD of this performance doesn't sound bad. I'm sure this sounds a bit better than the RBCD, but I wonder at the attraction to these old performances, when there are good newer ones available in better sound and at lower cost.

No plans to buy. Just curious about the pricing.

You can buy it on jpc.de The Price About 44,99 €. See on www.jpc.de and search for shm-sacd.

Caveat Emptor! The 'analogue' LP was digitally recorded.

cdjapan doesn't have the best price. hmv.co.jp regularly have shm-sacd 15% off, which bring the price to 3,947 AND on top of this additional 20% (sometime 30%) off special coupon. I bought all my shm-sacd this way. shipping cost are pretty much the same.

You must have confused this site with a public forum filled with interminable threads on where to get the absolute best price on whatever. If you choose not to support this site by buying through the affiliated vendors, that's fine. But don't use your first post here to run down this site. Or you could stick around to see whether the site offers you some value that you'd want to support.
