Ah, glad to hear it sounds good regardless of where it came from :)

Thank the Lord for those CDJapan bonus points. They even give you 300 points on your birthday.

That's news to me - how does that work?

Alex, WHERE have you been?

When you sign up as a new customer @ CDJapan you list your birthday and every year they issue another 300 bonus points.

And are you also aware of the 50 points you receive every time you place an order with them. Usually 2-3 weeks after the order ships you receive an email and you are asked to fill out a VERY brief survey and they instantaneously issue another 50 to your account.

And I'm sure you're aware of the Bonus Points you receive (sometimes extra) every time you place an order.

I'm sure you can probably email them {@ customer service} and if you are an existing customer can request they issue you the points for your birthday (issued the first day of your birthday month).

For what it's worth I ordered the re-issued sticky fingers and was disappointed to discover it was a jewel case. i sent it back for a refund and bought the original SHM, with the sleeve, used on amazon.co.jp for ¥4,800 (at the time around $40).

The rereleases seem to have put pressure on the previously sky-high used offer prices, plus the massive move in the USDJPY (from 75ish to 120ish over the past several years) makes things cheaper in USD terms.

I live in Japan so shipping not an issue.

It was specifically stated on the 100 SHM~SACD reissues that they would be in a RBCD case.

And yes, in America, we are REALLY enjoying the much reduced pricing of the newer/older SHM~SACDs.

As for the used market........OH WELL!

But there are still those "boutique" retailers in America charging $60 for the SHM~SACDs.......when one can now buy them for almost half from companies like CDJapan (and in most cases the accrued bonus points pay for the shipping).

I do do those surveys, Ralph. I can't recall if I ever gave them my birthday - will check on this. Thanks for the tip!

It should be in your user profile under HISTORY and there's an 'edit' doohickey. I've been registered with them since July of 2006 and have accrued 2700 bonus birthday points.........still NOT enough for an SHM~SACD but it covers those crazy s/h charges.

Alex, write them a "sugary" email and maybe they'll retroactively reward you with all the points you missed out on since your profile should include the date you did sign on with them...."I forgot to include my birth date as I'm very sensitive about giving out my age...." LOL!

NEVER hurts to try.

Both the original "Saxophone Colossus" (UCGO-9005) and the reissue (UCGO-9039) sound exactly the same to me.. The CDJapan site states that they are both sourced from the 2010 Japanese DSD master.
Although the 2014 RBCD (UCCO-5279) is a 2013 (US?) DSD remaster.
I must eventually check out the AP Hybrid version.

That is a good thing. That is what they are advertised and that is what we would hope. Would be a drag if they sounded different.
