You will enjoy the quad mix, they really liked to use all 4 channels back in the day. Also there is a flat 24/96 transfer of the stereo master. I have a turntable so was able to compare the digital stereo to the analog stereo, both are good but I would give a slight edge to the vinyl. This package, at the time I got it, was priced like regular vinyl so represent a screamin bargain IMHO.

Received my first and only LP today.

Had to buy the whole package of Ten Years After, A Space in Time, to get the quad surround DVD.

Can't wait to listen, but I am not buying a turntable that is for sure.

Am anxious to hear your review, Mark. I purchased the AF Gold Ten Years After A Space In Time RBCD for under $10 (brand new) and will content myself with that great sounding version until the QUAD version (if ever) receives a BD~A 4.0 or equivalent release. Am NOT holding my breath!

As previously mentioned, I have the Jethro Tull Aqualung set which I purchased specifically for the incredible sounding Steve Wilson BD~A 5.1 remaster and of course it came with a 180g vinyl pressing, as well.

Other than greed on the part of the releasing companies, I wish they'd stop assembling these 'useless' box sets which, IMHO, are for completists only and not for the 'average' customer who only wants the included surround remaster.

Tough night tonight, guess I should watch The Warriors as they are the home team, but I will be staring at that TYA all night.

I absolutely love Stonedhenge as they just ripped there music back and forth in stereo I can only imagine what TYA does with 4 speakers.

To all music bigwigs who make decisions, put the entire Ten Years After catalog in surround and I will buy them all.

And while you are at it can you also include Steve Miller and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Steve Miller's DTS 5.1 RBCD of Fly Like An Eagle is really superb and it was also reissued as a 4.0 mch DVD~V with Dolby Digital sound. VERY discrete sounding.........I have both. AmazonUS has a few Brand New (DTS version) for $50 + s/h.

You can melt down the TYA vinyl and use it as tire patch on your vehicles...........or if you accumulate enough vinyl create your own La Brea tarpits in your very own backyard...........LOL! https://skidrowphotography.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/srpc-walk-la-brea-tar-nov-180.jpg

Hi Marpow, I dont know if anyone has pointed this out, but it seems your review of The Police, Regatta de Blanc, is on the A&M version, and your review is of the Universal Japan version. Also don't know if there is anything you can do about it now. Can you delete a review?

And, Yay Warriors!

Just to say the DVD in the 30th Anniversary set of Fly Like An Eagle has a "new" 5.1 surround remix, quite different from the old Quad 4.0 on the DTS CD.. the 5.1 remix is excellent imho (Dolby Digital encode btw).

You're quite correct, Adam. Am spinning it now. The new double disc set (RBCD/DVD 5.1 DD) also includes a documentary and some live performance footage.

The RBCD includes three bonus tracks, as well.

A very nice package.

Imagine how it would've sounded in Lossless MLP 5.1, AB?

AmazonUS still has a bunch for sale for under $20......well worth the investment.

Thanks Jack, what a crappy review, I was still trying to find my review style then. Then that is that much better now but at least I found my own style.

I cannot edit/delete from the A&M review, but I did copy and paste with a note on the Japan review.

Now, I am going to try and find the 5.1 of Fly Like An Eagle.

You don't have to imagine! Well, sort of.. iirc one of the Acura DVD-A Demonstration discs (forget which one now, I have it somewhere) has a track from Fly Like An Eagle in 5.1 (forget which one now, I'll look it up tomorrow!) so you can compare the Advanced Res surround on that song to the Dolby of the 30th set if your heart so desires :-)

Oh brother, I actually have the 30th Anniversary 2 disc digipak. Did I ever listen to the DVD 5.1? I know I watched the Joel Selvin interview. Too many discs and getting older. Thanks Amazon for letting me know I already have it.

Listening now to the Dolby Digital 5.1 at 48Khz, except for the cut short, Space Intro actually the 5.1 is really good. There are plenty of synth surrounds that are very cool including end of Fly Like An Eagle, Blue Odyssey, and The Window.
Just did a full listen and I have no problem with it at all, a great surround remix.

Next is Iron Maiden's Dance of Death DVD~A in Dolby Digital 5.1 and saving the best for last Ten Years After 4.0 DVD, A Space In Time. I'll let you know how I like everything tomorrow.
