I've just ordered this HFPA disc. ( Has anyone bought it ? ) I bought his first album, and listened to this a few times, was a little bored with it to be honest, but just giving the album another listen, and it's really growing on me. ( I think it's the kind of album that needs a few listens. )
Looking forward to receiving it now. It's a shame it's not got a 5.1 mix, although, I'm sure it will be enjoyable. Will post my thoughts, when I've received it...

I received my disc today. The usual three audio options. Dolby True HD is becoming a favourite audio option for me.
If you're considering buying the cd, I'd definitely go for the HFPA option, it's worth the extra cost.
Music wise, the album is a grower, takes a few listens to get into, I'd say predominately rhythm driven, dark, melancholy, but at the same time, beautiful. Would have been nice of course to hear in 5.1, but still enjoyable all the same.
Check out his two performances on Later with Jools Holland on you tube...as good as any live performance, I've ever heard...and a most unusual guitar playing technique !!

Heard the samples on You Tube: Excellent.

Unfortunately, the Amazon US, UK, & CA links on this site are directed to the RBCDs, ONLY (Amazon US is charging $47 for the RBCD Import). The jpc link IS correct.

Thanks for the review, Rob.

You're welcome, Ralph.

Perhaps it will get a future release date in the US ?

I played it through again last night, cranked it up a little, and was even more impressed. Didn't sound compressed to my ears.

Musically, it might not be to everyone's taste ? ( I would have loved Damien Rice's new album to have had High Fidelity treatment !...but I convert all my cd's to DSD and transfer to my Hi Res Sony HAP-S1 audio player, so ALL my music collection is technically in Hi Res. I rarely play a cd now. )

The exciting thing is, more new albums will very likely come out on this format, which is exciting for all of us ! ( Who just wants re-issues ! ? )
