Hello SA-CD inmates;
I am happily still married to physical discs and my collection continues to grow. What are fellow dinosaurs doing for storing your cd's/ SACD's? Random bookshelves? CD towers? custom made media racks? I'm considering a company called Decibel based in California, they make wooden rotating CD towers - anyone have any experience with them? I am sincerely interested to hear/see your solutions, I am currently stumped and seeking something quality to house my collection.

Thanks in advance - GR

I used to have a rack, and two spinning towers. Sold all my CD's at garage sale 7 years ago, went into full on MP3 listening, and now rebuilding my physical collection with mostly SACD stereo and multi's. They are kind of random all over now and my wife keeps asking me if collection is getting bigger, I say no.
The spinning towers that I once had where great.

I had a spinning tower, sold it at garage sale with ideas of moving to Japan. Now, I could use it again. Will be looking for something soon.

I had a spinning tower, but gave it to a friend. After his death, I got it back. It is completely filled now with just the Beethoven's Ninths. Everything else is everywhere else.

I have ordinary shelving which until recently was completely full. I then discovered (through Alex Ross's blog) these soft plastic sleeves; I estimate they have saved at least a third of the space on my shelves, are perfectly practical if a bit less stable than the conventional jewel cases and have readable spines, much as LPs used to have (for those of us old enough to remember having shelves of LPs!) I can't recommend them too strongly.
I also find them useful for distinguishing between Redbook and SACDs - all my SACDs are still in their jewel boxes or digipacks and most of my thousands of CDs are in the new soft sleeves.

I had a wall of custom shelving built for my house but have long since filled it up. I thought it was ideal because I was able to design it myself and they were built to match the other woodwork in the room. I have never liked the rotating racks; they make me think of a greeting card display and they do not support logical orderly filing as well as linear shelves.

+1, Kal.

And the mere thought of replacing my 10K RBCD collection with space saving sleeves and storing the discarded RBCD cases is daunting, to say the least.
