This magnificent box set of 8 mch SACDs is NOW available from Amazon for US $40....and even LESS @ AmazonUK (under $26 incl s/h).

What Are YOU waiting For?

BTW, Audiophile Audition which awarded this set 5 stars is giving away 6 complete sets if you register at their website.....and are one of the lucky winners!

Thanks for the heads-up, rammiepie: just snapped up mine from Amazon.co.uk for £15.12. I don't normally buy box-sets these days, but this offer was too good to resist.

At the price especially, a mandatory purchase.

The only thing that is giving me a pause is that there is a BluRay video of the complete quartets being released imminently. Different quartet obviously, but I don't know if I want to purchase 2 complete sets of this music in a row.

I'm waiting for a review of it.

While the TQ may not wring every last ounce of drama from these pieces, I can't imagine that anyone would be disappointed in their beautiful tone and playing that is full of passion and warmth. The sound is gorgeous, too.

That is a great price for a set of LvB quartets in hi rez sound. Unfortunately, I stopped buying recordings of the Tokyo some time ago because I just don't like their style and approach. I have found their playing to be polite and proper which only goes so far. They bore me.

Of these , only Op.18 has not been issued before on SACD. can anyone tell when and how were the early quartets recorded? Thanks

The majority of the Quartets were original DSD multichannel recordings.
