At last! Bach's familiar Christmas Oratotio on 5.1 multi-channel Blu-ray Audio with superb sound quality! My own favorite was Riccardo Chailly's performance with Gewandhausorchester (Decca), but this is much better. Jewel case's cover is very beautiful. Any comments?

This is a 1990 digital recording and, therefore, probably two-channel at 44.1 or 48k sampling rate. The 5.0 mix is probably synthesized. Doesn't mean it can't sound good, just be aware of what you're buying.

Have you heard the Netherlands Bach Society title on CC SA-CD?

Superb performance and sound quality.

Otto's a very fine performance, and I enjoyed it, though the Three Magi on screen got tiresome after a while. Since there are really six cantatas for six different days of Christmas, having six different pictures would have been a nice touch. Not that there is any shortage of Christmas art!
The recent Herreweghe BD-V is also a very fine performance, though it must be a Puritan Christmas, because there are no decorations and everyone is wearing black!
I am truly excited about the Gardiner BD-V that will be appearing shortly. It was the opening concert of his year-long Cantata Pilgrimage in the Bach Year 2000. I have had it for many years on DVD and did not like the sound quality, but recently I popped it in for another look and found that the audio default was for stereo, and when I shifted over to multi-channel the whole thing came alive. The BD-V will improve both the picture and sound, and we will have an Oratorio for the ages.
So there is something of an embarrassment of riches now when it comes to the Weihnachtsoratorium. My favorite SACD set is the one from De Vriend.
