e-onkyo music (I'm sure you can work out the URL) now has Sakamoto (+ Morelenbaum) downloads in both DSD64 (2.8MHz) and DSD128 (5.6MHz) as well as FLAC96/192.

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence (OST)
Coda
CASA
Live in Tokyo 2001
A DAY in new york

If your not in Japan you will have to proxy to obtain. :(

e-onkyo Music has some really excellent DSD Downloads. In addition to 40 CTI Jazz Albums, they have DSD Downloads by the DSD Trio and the Jazz Cinema Trio worth getting. Recommended !

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is fantastic. Unfortunately, I'm in the US ...

Sorry to go off on a tangent but what's the general sound quality like on the CTI DSD downloads, Mr.M?

Concerning the CTI albums, I've only heard Milt Jackson "Sunflower", in 24/192 PCM. Compared to the 2011 Sony CD remaster (done by Mark Wilder and Maria Triana), the sound is terrible. Very veiled. The download is also missing the bonus track from the CD.

If e-onkyo had access to those recent US transfers done from the best tapes that would be great, but apparently they are using different sources. Maybe old japanese dubs of the master tapes.

I have the MCML 24/192 from their web site before they implemented region blocking and also have the DVDA of Live in Tokyo. Both are excellent IMHO. There is the option to try and use a proxy to obtain them.

Thank you for the info, much appreciated.

I have the Criterion BD~V of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and the soundtrack was remastered in 24 bit from the 35mm Dolby Surround LT/RT (L/C/R/S) magnetic tracks.

Sounds wonderful but NOT the same as having R. Sakamoto's magnificent score INTACT!

More Sakamoto is coming in DSD. Looks like they are working on "Left Handed Dream" as the next release...

They are very good. The DSD downloads are taken from Analog Tapes used in Japan to create the CTI releases.

Of the available titles, I'd especially recommend White Rabbit by George Benson in DSD.
