I believe that anyone interested in the best fidelity in their music would also be interested in DVD-A discs as well as SACD & Blu-Ray and should be added to the site

I collected DVD~As before I embarked on collecting SACDs but, sadly, a plethora of DVD~As are Out of Print and the very few which are released yearly are few and far between.

Blu Ray Audio seems to be the newer preferred format over DVD~A and I believe we should content ourselves with SA~CD.net's decision to incorporate that format into this site.

And truthfully, this site flourishes from revenue derived from member's purchases and most newer DVD~As are manufactured by smallish companies who have no interest in sharing such revenue with SA~CD.net!

One caveat: the moderators of this forum are usually tolerant {to a point} of DVD~A discussions so I would content myself with that!

We went through this years ago on this site. There is no way DVD-Audio has any place here, IMO.

It has its own site DVD-A.net

OT: BTW, Hoop, tomorrow marks the BD~A release of Opeth's Pale Communion (Roadrunner/WEA) remixed into 5.1 by none other than Steve Wilson. Best Buy and Walmart have it listed for $13.99 (cd/BD~A/V).

From all accounts over at QQ, it's a keeper (more acoustic and more melodic).

Already pre-ordered. Just as cheap on Amazon and don't have to go pick it up.

Ditto. Hate schlepping to either Best Buy or Walmart.....ugh!

A veritable bargain @ $13.88!

Thanks for the tip.......couldn't find it on AmazonUS until I typed in PC: Blu Ray audio!

I would suggest most buyers of SACD have at least some DVD Audios in their collection given the number of dual format universal players that have been availible over the years.

However the fact that new releases are essentially zero and that older DVD Audio titles have likely already had some forum space in various past posts here it would perhaps be a bit pointless adding this format to discussions other than for comparisons with dual inventory ( ie titles that were released in both DVD Audio & SACD ) and more recent Blu-ray Audio discs which of course we are free to discuss.

Jered Sacks of Channel Classics has stated he believes that 95% of Channel SACD buyers listen only to the RBCD track. These folks are not multichannel listeners and probably listen on ordinary CD players. Assuming Jared is correct, very few buyers of SACD will have so much as one DVD audio in their collection.

The statement above that new SACD releases are essentially zero is quite obviously incorrect. One has only to examine this site to see that there are new releases going on all the time.
