Just a note: The SHM-SACD does not contain the CD length version of the album, but contains the shortened song versions that appeared on the LP. Why this decision was made (?) not sure...

The shortened version….because they used the 30ips 1/2" analog tape that was made and used for cutting the original Lp. For first time used on CD/SACD, to my knowledge.
Transfered to DSD by FX Copyroom in London, 2014.

Anyone listened to the new SHM-SACD?

It sounds like this edition of BIA will provide a bittersweet listening experience for it's an excellent release, the shortened tracks will always be annoyingly short. I suppose however, if it sounds rubbish, the brevity will be a bonus ;)

Fwiw, my copy is on its way from Japan and I'm now less excited about it. :(

I'm pretty sure that FX Copyroom has done the best possible transfer from the tapes.

But…I'm also preferring the longer versions.

Yes, I have it, it sounds like a more detailed version of the 1985 CD.
I also have the US SACD Hybrid and prefer this version, the shortened songs are very distracting. Looks like the folks over a CD Japan did not like my review, it's been removed.
